The Realities of being a Woman in Africa.
Nanci Hartland through Lifetracks persisted in her belief that she could make a difference in the lives of the people in a small village at 8000 feet up in the mountains near Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Then took on the challenge of helping to support a hospital that repairs the fistula created by FGM - Female Genital Mutilation. Read about her journey as she held girls and women as they cried of the pain and the terror of being held down by women they thought they could trust.
Photo: I visit with a woman a few years after her surgery. She married and delivered a healthy baby.
"I cried with them; aware that my compassionate heart was finding its own peace within the world’s tragedies."
